(Paris, France - Feb. 15th 2006)
Art Child is very proud to announce that Miguel Angel Estrella has accepted to be one of the godfathers of Art Child's Music Contest.
Miguel Angel Estrella, one of Argentina's most prestigious classical pianists, has led a life long campaign for the popularization of music among the poorest groups in society. His cooperation with UNESCO dates back to the late 1980s when he was designated Goodwill Ambassador. He is the founder of "Musique Espérance," a foundation which aims to improve access to music for all people, and is designed to defend human dignity and to uplift communities.
Miguel Angel Estrella's relentless engagement has benefited Chernobyl victims by raising funds for UNESCO's Chernobyl recovery programme. The "Orchestra for Peace", composed of young Arab and Israeli musicians, created by Mr Estrella, has given concerts in France and Luxembourg, to promote UNESCO's ideals and objectives. In 2000, Miguel Angel Estrella received the Nansen Prize, the United Nations Prize for the Three Americas. Source : www.unesco.org
